STRATEGY
Digestive health has become a growing public health concern in Vietnam, with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) affecting up to 70–80% of adults and increasingly impacting younger populations (VnEconomy, 2024). While general awareness of health risks exists, preventive action remains low due to deeply rooted dining habits, low perceived urgency, and the complexity of medical information. Traditional health communication has proven limited in converting concern into action, particularly among young urban audiences who are highly active on social media yet disengaged from formal, one‑way health messaging. Manulife Vietnam identified that the core challenge was not awareness but translation and activation at scale. Preventive digestive health required more than information dissemination; it demanded a system capable of transforming complex health data and behavioral risks into personal, emotionally relevant, and socially shareable experiences — something traditional communication frameworks could not achieve efficiently. Artificial intelligence was therefore positioned as a critical enabler of both personalization and scale, playing a central role in the campaign strategy. AI allowed Manulife to move beyond mass messaging and deliver real‑time, individualized content that could adapt medical knowledge into simple, human language and creative formats. By doing so, AI bridged the gap between health knowledge and everyday life, making prevention feel approachable rather than clinical. Social media served as the primary environment for this AI‑powered strategy. Vietnamese dining moments — where people eat, share, and connect — also dominate social content creation. By embedding AI‑driven experiences within these natural social behaviors, the campaign reframed digestive health prevention as a voluntary, socially reinforced habit rather than an obligation. The strategy integrated AI‑powered assessment, personalized content creation, and social‑first activation around one clear behavioral cue: “9 people, 10 chopsticks.” Through this approach, Manulife leveraged AI not as a supporting technology but as the operating mechanism that enabled scalable personalization, emotional engagement, and peer‑to‑peer influence, reinforcing its role as a long‑term health and wellness partner within the community.
INSIGHT
Digestive health is widely recognized as important among Vietnamese consumers, yet preventive action remains limited—particularly when it comes to H. pylori. Community screenings and social listening consistently revealed a gap between participation and understanding. While many people were willing to join free check‑ups and complete health questionnaires, they often struggled to interpret what their lifestyle habits, screening responses, and rapid test results actually meant for their personal health. This pattern highlighted a critical behavioral truth: health information alone does not trigger prevention unless it feels personally relevant and emotionally clear. Medical assessments, when presented in technical or fragmented formats, tend to be perceived as abstract data rather than actionable insight—causing preventive opportunities to stall at awareness rather than progress to behavior change. To decode this gap at scale, Manulife applied artificial intelligence to analyze combined screening data, lifestyle inputs, and behavioral indicators captured during community check‑ups conducted with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association (VYPA). AI enabled the rapid synthesis of these diverse inputs into simplified, easy-to-understand risk interpretations—translating medical complexity into human language that people could immediately recognize as “about me.” However, insight validation showed that understanding risk still was not enough. Sustained preventive behavior emerged only when health messages became emotionally engaging and socially reinforced. This revealed a deeper insight: preventive care becomes sustainable when it is experienced as an expression of care, not a medical instruction. AI therefore extended beyond assessment into social connection. Through Green Radio, AI transformed personalised health reminders into shareable music experiences—embedding wellness messages within culturally familiar, emotionally resonant formats. By allowing people to create and send AI‑generated songs to loved ones, preventive communication shifted from clinical guidance to a social act of care. Together, AI‑enabled insight interpretation and AI‑powered emotional expression reframed digestive health prevention from abstract medical information into a personal, social, and culturally meaningful experience—unlocking the conditions for awareness to translate into voluntary participation and long‑term behavior change.
CREATIVE IDEA
The creative idea focused on using artificial intelligence to amplify preventive digestive health messaging by making it personal, emotionally engaging, and inherently shareable on social media.Rather than communicating health information in a conventional educational format, the campaign used AI to transform prevention into creative content experiences that people wanted to engage with and pass on. Artificial intelligence was applied across two connected touchpoints to maximize creative impact. First, during large-scale free health screenings, AI amplified the creative idea of “personal relevance” by transforming complex health data into individualized, easy-to-understand assessments. By analyzing participants’ lifestyle information, underlying conditions, health indicators, and rapid test results, AI generated faster and clearer evaluations using accessible language. This allowed health information to feel personally meaningful rather than clinically distant, creating a strong emotional foundation for engagement. Building on this personalized understanding, the campaign extended the creative idea into social media through Green Radio – an AI-powered music social challenge. AI was used to generate customized music tracks that carried wellness reminders and messages of care. Each track was unique, personal, and emotionally resonant, turning preventive health messages into creative content rather than instructional communication. By enabling participants to create and share AI-generated music, the campaign optimized creative assets for social platforms, encouraging organic sharing and peer-to-peer amplification. Preventive health became something people expressed, not just something they were told. Through AI-driven personalization and content generation, the campaign successfully amplified its creative idea at scale—transforming health prevention into a social experience driven by creativity, emotion, and voluntary participation.
CONNECTION PLAN
The campaign’s connection plan was designed to ensure that AI‑powered experiences were seamlessly integrated across digital, social, and real‑world touchpoints, reinforcing preventive digestive health behaviors consistently throughout the participant journey.
Owned channels played a foundational role in building awareness, context, and readiness for engagement. Throughout the campaign period, Manulife’s official social media and digital channels consistently communicated digestive health knowledge, focusing on Helicobacter pylori risks, preventive behaviors, and the simple habit of using communal serving chopsticks. Complex medical information was translated into accessible, relatable stories through educational posts, short‑form videos, and culturally relevant content. These owned communications established why digestive health prevention matters before introducing how audiences could engage.
Once awareness was formed, owned channels strategically promoted Đài Phát Xanh (Green Radio) as a creative and emotional extension of the message — positioning it as a way to express care for loved ones through personalized wellness reminders. This sequencing ensured that AI‑powered engagement amplified, rather than replaced, foundational health education. Social media served as the amplification engine. Green Radio functioned as an AI‑powered social challenge, encouraging participants to create and share personalized music tracks embedding preventive health messages.
This transformed individual participation into organic earned media, enabling peer‑to‑peer dissemination of health messages beyond paid exposure. The entertainment‑driven nature of AI‑generated music aligned naturally with social behaviors, especially during the highly competitive festive season. Running from 26 November to 26 December 2025, the challenge generated 6,300 total game sessions, a strong result compared with typical brand social challenges, where 500–1,000 participants are already considered high engagement. Additionally, 1,352 downloads indicated that many participants progressed from casual interaction to actively saving and retaining campaign content.
Offline‑to‑online integration further strengthened engagement. Free community health screenings, mall activations, and the partnership with Manwah Restaurants introduced preventive messages in real dining moments — where habits are formed — and guided participants to continue interacting online. Overall, the integrated connection plan successfully aligned AI‑powered assessment, personalized creative content, and social sharing into one cohesive journey. By embedding preventive health communication across trusted owned channels, emotionally engaging social experiences, and real‑world touchpoints, the campaign delivered a distinctive, modern, and tech‑forward brand experience—reinforcing Manulife’s role as a trusted long‑term health partner and demonstrating how AI can elevate social engagement with meaningful community impact.
