STRATEGY

Built on the belief that every Mum, no matter what form motherhood takes, shares the same desire to raise a healthy child with the goodness closest to breast milk, Optimum adopted a dual emotional and functional approach: becoming a strong “hậu phương” behind Mums, giving them confidence and peace of mind through a formula designed to be as close to breast milk as possible. Unlike brands that focus only on the functional benefits of milk for babies, Optimum intentionally balances its focus between Mum and child. This allows the brand to understand not only what babies need but also what Mums feel, worry about, and aspire to. In this strategy, Mums are no longer secondary figures but are placed at the heart of the brand story. Instead of relying heavily on paid media, the campaign prioritized earned media and community-driven amplification, with nearly 80% of total media value coming from owned and shared channels. Real Optimum Mums became authentic everyday KOLs, genuinely sharing and discussing the brand through three phases: reshaping the “mom standard,” sparking curiosity around the “Tủ Hậu Phương,” and sustaining conversations through community engagement. This helped bring greater visibility to diverse motherhood journeys, from single Mums to same-sex parents and military Mums.

INSIGHT

In modern society, motherhood is no longer defined by a single image. It exists in many forms—single moms, LGBTQ+ parents, single fathers, parents of twins, and other diverse family structures. Yet despite these differences, they are united by the same hope: to give their child the best possible start in life. Behind that shared desire lies a quiet but deeply emotional tension. Many caregivers carry the fear of not being enough when they cannot breastfeed, often questioning their worth, identity, or ability to be a “real” Mum. The pressure comes not only from personal expectations but also from social norms that continue to define caregiving through narrow and traditional standards. This reveals a deeper human insight: what caregivers need is not judgment or idealized definitions of parenthood, but empathy, validation, and reassurance. They want to feel seen for their love and effort, not measured only by what they can physically provide. In a world where family roles are becoming more diverse, the definition of motherhood must evolve as well — from a biological role into an emotional one grounded in care, presence, and unconditional love.

CREATIVE IDEA

In Vietnam, motherhood is often judged by one standard: breastfeeding. But in reality, many people nurture a child every day — not only Mums, but also fathers, grandparents, and caregivers. Vinamilk Optimum chose to challenge this belief. Under the idea “There's always a mum, come what may," the brand celebrated the many forms of motherhood that exist in modern families. To bring this belief to life, Optimum turned a familiar object in every baby household into the campaign’s creative device: the Supportive Fridge—a symbol of the quiet efforts behind every feeding. If Mums are the backup for their children, Optimum becomes the backup for Mums.Through real stories from diverse moms and caregivers, amplified by influencers and the Supportive Fridge experience both online and offline, the campaign reframed motherhood as something defined not by biology but by love and care.

CONNECTION PLAN

Rather than relying on big celebrities, Optimum built its influencer strategy around real motherhood experiences. The campaign began with everyday moms who genuinely live the realities of parenting pressure—from low milk supply to sleepless nights. Through their real stories, Optimum highlighted a truth many Mums share: when breastfeeding does not go as planned, what they need most is not judgment but support. These stories naturally introduced Optimum’s role.

Developed with 6HMO inspired by the composition of breast milk, the formula was positioned not to replace breast milk, but to support Mums when reality does not match expectations. From these authentic voices, the campaign expanded to showcase diverse forms of motherhood — including single Mums, Mums of twins, niche groups, and multi-generational caregivers — reflecting the many ways a child can be nurtured. The narrative was then elevated through inspirational Mums, most notably the A80 military moms who temporarily stepped away from their families to serve the nation. In that moment, Optimum stepped in as the backup behind Mums, delivering supportive fridges as both emotional reassurance and nutritional support. Finally, the story moved from online conversations to real-life participation. Influencers and mom creators were invited to experience the Supportive Fridge installations at Vinamilk stores and share their journeys on social media, encouraging other Mums to join. Through this layered approach, influencers became storytellers — helping spread a powerful belief: if Mums are the back-up for their children, Optimum is the back-up for Mums.
